INTRODUCTION
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is requesting preliminary proposals from Web-development and/or
information-architecture companies or consultants for designing a user-centered interface (navigation) and content
structure for the NCAA Web site, "NCAA Online" (home page: www.ncaa.org). This Request for Proposal (RFP) is intended
to describe the types of services that will be performed and contains an overview of the terms under which services are
to be provided.
Respondents to this request should discuss fee and expense structures for all services described in the Scope of
Work section. Additionally, all respondents should provide a time frame describing the procedures and course
of action to establish NCAA accounts.
BACKGROUND
The NCAA is an unincorporated not-for-profit 501c(3) educational organization. The NCAA national office is
located in Indianapolis in White River State Park. The national office building comprises office space, a
conference center and the NCAA Hall of Champions. In addition, the NCAA operates a distribution center
located about two miles north of the national office. The NCAA also has a three-person Washington, D.C.,
office to assist with legislative and government affairs. Approximately 350 staff members are employed at
the Indianapolis locations and the Washington, D.C., office.
The NCAA is a voluntary organization through which approximately 1,200 institutions, athletics conferences and
organizations speak and act on athletics matters at the national level. The NCAA has over 130 committees and
subcommittees that meet periodically throughout each year. The NCAA also supports numerous student-athlete
and scholarship programs.
PURPOSE
All information included herein is for the singular purpose of enabling the responding companies to prepare
a summary of their industry experience and describe how they would meet the NCAA's needs. Submissions to the
request shall not be returned and shall be deemed the property of the NCAA.
SCOPE OF WORK
The NCAA is requesting that a qualified Web-site design/information architecture company or consultant, guided
by NCAA Web-audience research (currently in progress) and organizational goals, provide the following services:
